Collect eggs: grade, dirt, and storage
Collect often, keep dirty and cracked eggs out of the sale pile, and store clean eggs cool and dry.
Collect eggs
Layers pay you in eggs only if you collect, grade, and store them.
- Collect at least twice daily in heat
- Record size grades when you sell by size; always record cracked, dirty, and thin shells
- Do not wash unless your market requires it; dry-clean first
- Store pointy-end down, cool, away from strong smells
Log eggs with grade and quality so hen-day % and unsaleable % stay honest.
