Pick a purpose: layers, broilers, or dual-purpose birds

Match breed and batch plan to eggs, meat, or mixed backyard flocks — including indigenous strains.

Pick a purpose

Egg flocks, meat batches, and mixed backyard groups need different clocks.

  • Layers — grow to about 18–20 weeks, then eggs. Track hen-day %, not a 42-day harvest.
  • Broilers — all-in/all-out meat cycle. Target weight or day, then process.
  • Dual-purpose / indigenous — slower growth. Do not judge Kuroiler, Sasso, Fayoumi, or Baladi against a commercial broiler curve.

Record purpose on the flock when you place the batch. Use that purpose for stages, FCR, and tips.
