Vegetables fail from a dry week more often than from a missing cultivar. Know volume, quality, and peak daily delivery before the seed goes in.

Cabbage, onion, carrot, beetroot, and potato all need reliable moisture from establishment through bulking. Poor-quality water salts the bed and wastes the stand. Test salinity and pH, and measure what the pump actually delivers at the field — not what the brochure promised.
Plan for the hottest, driest week, not the average. Filters, emitters, and a repair kit belong in the budget with the seed. Mulch and drip cut waste where they fit the crop and soil.
If the last crop wilted while the tank still looked full, you ran out of delivery, not of water on paper.
